Celebrating the people and businesses of WNY.

1812 buzz

Sorry for the several month gap between blog posts!

I’ll be blogging a bit more now that the summer is approaching.

One thing I am looking forward to is all the 1812 bicentennial events around Western New York. My parents clipped a nice editorial from the local Bee Publications newspapers that listed some of the 1812 hotspots. There was also a list of the main 1812 websites so you can do some reading ahead of your trip.

The first site listed styles itself the “official” website. The banner at the top reads “celebrating 200 years of peace.” I like that focus. Some folks may wonder why all the fuss over a war that was considered a mistake by many on both sides. Well, those who don’t learn from those mistakes are doomed to repeat them, right?

Many thanks to Michael Sherman and the Bee group papers for promoting some history/ tourism in Western New York, this year. If you are looking for fun, check out their large community calendar.

And check back here for some of my summer adventures. If you would like to promote some more great things in Western New York, find me on Twitter and follow @promoteWNY.
